Creamy Baked Gnocchi with Asiago and Parmesan Cheese Recipe
A luxurious Creamy Baked Gnocchi with Asiago and Parmesan Cheese recipe which pairs gnocchi and smoked ham with a decadent cheese sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Gnocchi
- 6 ounces Smoked Ham, diced into small pieces
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 tablespoons Flour, all-purpose
- 2 cups Milk
- 1 cup Asiago Cheese, grated
- ½ cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- ½ teaspoon Thyme, dried
- Salt, to taste
- Black Pepper, to taste
- Fresh Parsley, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat an oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish and set it aside for later.
- Cook the gnocchi according to the instructions on the package, usually until they float to the surface. Drain the cooked gnocchi and set them aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced gammon pieces to the skillet and cook them until they turn lightly browned and crispy. Once done, remove the gammon from the skillet and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, whisk in the flour and cook it for 1-2 minutes, or until it reaches a lightly golden color.
- Gradually pour the milk into the skillet while continuously whisking to prevent any lumps from forming. Keep stirring and cooking until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
- Reduce the heat to low, and stir in the grated Asiago and Parmesan cheese until they are fully melted and the sauce becomes smooth. Add garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper to the sauce, adjusting the seasonings according to your preference.
- Add the cooked gnocchi and the crispy gammon pieces back into the skillet with the cheese sauce. Gently stir to ensure all the gnocchi and gammon are evenly coated with the sauce.
- Transfer the gnocchi mixture to the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Place the dish in the oven and bake for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until the top turns golden and starts to bubble.
- Once done, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the top as a garnish.
- Serve your creamy baked gnocchi with asiago and parmesan cheese warm and enjoy.
